Problem compiling ndiswrapper-1.37 on SUSE 10.0

Hi

I am running SUSE 10.0 and have recently bought a Netgear WG111v2 USB wireless adapter and am trying to compile the latest version on the ndiswrapper with little/no success.

I have installed the source code (linux-2.6.13-15) and have KBUILD=/usr/src/linux-2.6.13-15. When I compile ndiswrapper I get the following output

---------------------------------------
make -C driver

make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/temp/ndiswrapper-1.37/driver'

---------------------------------------

Can anyone with more knowledge than me please point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance
O

Yes (version 1.2) and I am trying to compile the latest version (1.37) to see if I have any more luck in getting my WG111v2 device to work.

... seems it is possible with even older versions of ndiswrapper.

Interestingly:

Simon - thanks for your persistence in trying to help me solve my ndiswrapper problem.

I have been to almost every site out there that gives advice on how to configure the wg111v2 driver but none seem to work for me. I have also found that when I successfully load the driver and then try to do a "modprobe ndiswrapper", I get a "FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found" error and the wlan0 device just never appears. I am resorting to upgrading to SUSE 10.2 (downloading as I type) to see if that changed my fortune.

ps. I have also gone through the YAST network configuration tools a 1000 times trying every combination without success.

Thanks again
O

Not clear that the suse upgrade will help...
http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?p=9103

... of course, it may turn out that the problem is in something you modified earlier and so the install will clear that up

openSUSE HCL claims that your dongle will work with 10.0-10.2... but you need to download some source-code from realtek:

... when you compile in 10.2, you will get lots of symbol warnings but it goes from YaST network manager.

I'm much more impressed with openSUSE support these days.
