problem about 'dd'

dd of=hd.img bs=1024 seek=1000000 count=0

ll hd.img
-rw-r--r-- 1024000000 4月 10 21:18 hd.img

but , the output of 'df' showed that no such large file was created,
so my question is:
where is the space from? or where is the new file located?

the new file is clearly there.... i'd guess you're not reading the df output right...
