pidgin won't connect to MSN!

Hi,

I'm running PidGin instant messanging ver.2.4.1 on Linux Ubuntu 8.04. I'm connected to the Web by a wi-fi ADSL modem/router ("Libero TuttoIncluso" is the name of the provider service if you know italian providers and services).
I'm trying to connect to my MSN account using PidGin and I've already tried some different configurations I've found on the net, like enabling/disablign HTTP Method or change some ports. Howevere until now I can't connect and there is this error message: "xxxx disconnected. Connection error from notification server: reading error".

Does anyone know a solution?
Any help will be very appreciated.

Server: messenger.hotmail.com
Port: 1863
HTTP Method Server: gateway.messenger.hotmail.com
