i have installed pidgin in fedora 7 and followed the instructions given in the google talk website .but i am getting the following error when connected
Since it's from source, did you compile it with the SSL option. Normally you'd have to add an option like --with-openssl when you run ./configure. Alternatively, I'm sure fedora has an RPM available.

THANKS FOR UR QUICK REPLY
i have installed it first using yum..
but it have error when i run pidgin..
so i installed it from souce
can u tell me how to install it with ssl support while configuring
Yeah it should be as long as you use the same prefix. Try running "make uninstall" in the configured source directory from your original installation and that should remove everything cleanly.

hi nylex
i find the faq page lengthy to digest..
so i want to install it usig the yum repositroy that is given by them...
Please tell me how to install from only pidgin.repo by disabling other repos..?
which packages do in need to install along with pidgin..?
Unfortunately, I don't use Fedora so I don't know about its repositories. As far as I know though, yum should take care of dependencies for you meaning you don't have to worry about them.
