Photoshop replacment?

Hi everyone, my first post here, greetings, etc...

i've been flirting with linux for about 6 years now, usually when i get sick and tired of windows (or windows get sick and tired of me J), but the only thing that keeps me from leaving windows is the absence of photoshop.

i never was able to control the gimp no matter how many tutorials i've read.

is there some hope out there?
what do you guys do if you need to do some heavy photo editing works?
switch the vmware on and load win?
wine?

well, photoshop 7 runs perfectly under CrossOver (haven't tried it on wine, but I suppose it will work).

other than that, from what I know, PS CS2 can be run under wine as well.

thank you all for replying

cross over is not a free software, so i still didnt get the chance to use it.
I'm going to give gimpshop a test drive to see how it feels and comeback with the feedback.

thanks

Photoshop 7 works well with the latest release of WINE.
