How do I install a second version of SuSe in a seperate partition, so that my SuSe 9.2 Pro is left okay?

The safest thing is to have backups before proceeding.
When you go to install the new operating system, be careful to select NEW install, not upgrade and select custom partitioning or whatever it is called.
The point is, be sure to NOT let the installer take over existing systems or partitions where you already have data.
