partition restricton

hello, i want to set up remote login via freenx for a few friends of mine.

i will of course give each one thier own user account, so each will have normal user restrictions for linux partitions.

but the thing is i dual boot and i dont really want anyone looking through my windows partition. is there a way to lock some users out of that partition and have it accessable to other users like mine and my brothers?

thanks.

you (and your brothers) are probably in the same user group, called 'users'. i suggest you make a new group, and add your friends (who are to use the system remotely) to this new group. set the permissions on the windows partition for 'other' so that they cannot do anythign with it, ie 'chmod o-rwx /path/to/partition'

so remove the other accounts from the "users" group and add them to another group called other.

or leave the other people in the user group and the other group will prevent them from opening the location even though they are in the user group which would normally be able to access it.
