option other than yum?


do we hav any other option in fedora 7 other than yum for installing softwares? i hav completely messed up my yum files that i dont find anyother option. or do u think its solvable?

solvable? must be! I dont know how!

But ive heard about apt-get being used in fedora... google for info about that.

You might also look at smart. It is pretty handy at software installation and does not rely on yum. It is available in the repos. You can search the repos and just double click on the rpm and it should install(after jumping through a few hoops).

You could also let us know whats wrong with yum and we could try and help you fix it.

ya,, with some effort now i hav been able to make yum workin. but it fails when it goes for updates with the following errors.

Just a thought... why not pull the repo config file from the install DVD and copy it over what exists currently?
