Well......
Only by searching for content did I find this:

From your home directory, go to:
.openoffice.org2/user/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office
Remove (or rename) the file named "Common.xcu"
Restart Open Office

How's that for obscure?.....

Looks like it can't easily been cleared.
This list is stored in ~/.openoffice.org2/user/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/Common.xcu
a really big xml file that stores _all_ the OOo files you opened (not only the 10 last ones) and a lot of settings. No easy way to edit the file without messing the data.
Anyway, you could delete this file (don't do it while OOo is running); it will be restored as an empty file next time you run OOo. But you'll lose some previous settings.

Edit : Oops, pixellany was faster than me !

In my quick glance at this file, I di not see much that i recognized---except for the Recent Docs list.
Once we psych out the format of this file, it will be easy to wrtie a script that purges the recent docs.

Surprising that OOo does not give us a command to do this---maybe you should post on the OOo mailing lists?
