openoffice.org 2.0 beta buggy?

Hey all, just wondering if anyone has encountered openoffice.org 2.0 being kind of buggy? I know it's still in beta testing, but it seemed to run fine when I first downloaded it. Now the software doesn't run half the time, and I have to reboot my machine to get it to work.

[Any inside info on how the project is coming and when we might expect the official release of 2.0?]

According to the plan on the OO.org website, the RC is to be expected this month, and the final version in May/June.

For how it's coming along, you can look through the timetable to see what's done, what needs to be done and if it's overdue or not.

I've found the later public builds have been better at not crashing when I ask them to load up an old OOo 1.1.4 file of mine (the 2.0beta/1.9.79 crashes on just moving the mouse over the embedded Draw objects. 1.9.91 & 93 don't load the objects, but at least don't crash).

It has a few bugs, but its working mostly fine for me on Slack, Fedora and CentOS. If you try the newer development builds, they could contain less bugs than the beta.

You too huh?

I found the same thing. It ran without a problem for some time, but then all of a sudden I can't even open a document without it crashing.

It's called "beta" for a very good reason, folks.

Personally I always wait for the stable release versions.
