I'm on my 3rd build of LFS, first for my main computer. I just got done installing OpenOffice-1.1.1 from source with the BLFS directions. But when I went to run Writer, to test it out with my user account, it brought up some setup/install program. I closed that, thinking I better run the setup as root first. Su'ed back to root to run setup, installed to a different directory, and switched back to my normal user. When I ran Writer again, the same setup/install program popped up. So, I closed that and took a look at the directory that I gave, as root, to the install program before. I found out that I was slightly bigger than the original directory that I installed the source to.
What I did find out is, you can cut that second "config" directory down ~1 MB by deleting it, then running one of the programs, then running the repair program. But my question is WHY?
-Why to I have to run the setup for every account on this one computer?
-Why do I have to delete the setups extra stuff and the repair it, just to get a config dir that is smaller the the actual program directory?
Am I just being dumb?
Is any one else having this problem?
