OpenOffice Bullet Defaults

Is there any way to set up a template that maintains an custom outline bullet as the default bullet?

I have made a set of bullets that I like to use and every time I open writer, I have to recreate my bullets and select them every time. I know it is petty, but it is just frustrating. Any ideas?

Create a document with the custom bullets in it. Then File - Save As and save as a template. Next time you want to write a document and use those bullets, File - New from template.

I have been doing that but it will not stay on the Outlined bullets and for some reason it keeps changing all the styles I have set in the template file. I will look at openoffice.org because the help with the program has very little about setting a default bullet. Thanks for the lead.
