open office makes virus infected docs

Hey KWord won't save as .doc format on Slackware 13.0 so I got the SlackBuild for OpenOffice and changed my .odt resume to .doc. But now yahoo won't attach it, it says it has a virus. Wtf? (I don't really think it has a virus.)

Then create another file in OOo and try to send. Does it work?

Check the file using a proper virus scanner.

If it DOES have a virus, check the Openoffice blank document templates. Since OO has a version of Basic similar to MS Office's VBA, I guess it may be possible for a macro virus to be spread by OO. Though I've never actually heard of it.

More likely Yahoo is either blanket blocking .docs, or is being paranoid - seeing your .doc as not 'normal' (because OO will make it slightly different to what Word would) and assuming that means it's a virus.

I would change its type, like zip it or 7zip it, or change the ending.

Sorry guys. It turns out it wasn't the .doc. Apparently yahoo says anything I attach has a virus. It never did that before. I have no idea what is going on. I just started a gmail account and sent the .doc resume through there and it worked fine.
