Oh where or where has ifconfig gone

Oh where or where could it be
I've tried find on the root
but could get no loot.
so would you please help me?

Anyways, I can't find iconfig, how could it have been deleted. Do I have some sort of wierd bug or a security problem on my hands. I can still connect to the internet.

Related to that is: does IP config do anything other than parse varaibles existing in the kernel (or somewhere in there) or does it actually serve a function, such that not having it can be a problem for me?

Thanks,
BERNiE

argh! I'm sorry for cluttering this thread up. I have now discovered that I can do it by being root, but I did not need to do that before. I don't know why I would need to do that now. Weird.

If anyone knows why I now need to log on as root, feel free to tell me. Thanks. BERNiE
