I have installed SuSE 9.3 Professional, and am finding that there are many bugs (or probably just one big bug) with the FireFox install that came with the distro. The actions which cause the errors are numerous; clicking on 'bookmark this page', or right clicking a download link and clicking 'save link as' for two examples. The errors they all cause seem to be the same, the browser crashes and dies and is removed from the desktop.
After running FireFox from the terminal window, the following output is displayed on each crash, and I do believe it to be the same for each incident.
Code:
(Gecko:8249): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_get_parent_window: assertion `GTK_IS_W IDGET (widget)' failed
(Gecko:8249): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_is_viewable: assertion `window != NULL ' failed
(Gecko:8249): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_get_parent: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET ( widget)' failed
/usr/bin/firefox: line 254: 8249 Segmentation fault $MOZ_PROGRAM $MOZ_LANG
This happens with the distro installed FireFox package (which is 1.0.3) and the same happens with the new binary I downloaded and installed (version 1.0.4). I may try next to compile FireFox from source and see if a more stable browser is the result, but in the meantime I was wondering if anybody found the error, or the console output familiar. Was just quite surprised to get such shockingly bad behaviour from a distro installed package.
Thanks for taking a peek.
