not same checksum error message: acpi/GAIM

Hi,

I'm a newbie to linux running mdk10 on a laptop. I tried installing the acpi kde klaptop configuring program to enable suspend, cpu temp, hibernate, standby, etc. but when i click on the 'setup helper' app in the acpi config menu, an error messasge pops up saying that the checksum isn't the same as when it was compiled and it doesn't recommend that i run it. what's going on?

a simular thing happened when i tried installing gaim .79 it has an error message syaing there was a bad signature.

should i proceed? what's do these error mesages mean? thanks.
