Talking NOOB NeedS Expert Advise on What Newsgroup Program to use!

Hello seasoned veterans, in looking at the User Choice Awards this year i didn't see a listing for the most popular Newsgroup program for reading / downloading images, etc from the wonderful and vast world of newsgroups. While most people are aware of certain programs such as Firefox for browsing, Gaim for IM etc. I simply cannot seem to find a popular answer. Any feedback is grealty appreciated.

Cheers

I'm surprised that nobody responded to this.

The vast majority of hardcore geeks still probably use trn. It's pretty darned feature-rich.

That said, Mozilla is probably the best GUI-based newsreader that most folk already have on their system.

i think pan is the best. it says it's for gnome, but i think it runs without it as long as you have gtk2.

trn is command line. i don't think that's going to be very useful to you if your main purpose is to read and d/l images. as i said, you want pan, or use the reader in mozilla, thunderbird, etc.

Pan blows the Mozilla newsreader out of the water. Also works fine with KDE, so long as all needed libraries are installed.
