Non existent storage shown on gnome-disk-utility when USB printer plugged in
When my USB printer is plugged to my PC, gnome-disk-utility shows this printer as a storage media.
However if I click the settings wheel, the only option I get is "Edit Mount Options". There is no option to format this non-existent storage. Furthermore there is no visible storage on the printer itself. No SD-card slot or USB socket that would allow to plug an external USB thumb drive.
I don't but, with more information, members might be able to give some suggestions. First, is this a new problem? Have you previously had this specific printer attached to the specific usb port you are now using and did it function properly? Did you recently have an external drive attached and not safely remove it (this is speculation and I really don't know if this could cause the problem, members who know more about hardware might)? The hardware seems properly identified if it is in fact, an Epson printer.
If you use other software to detect devices, does incorrect information about the printer show?
I know a number of years ago there was something about scanners having hard drives and keeping a record of every single thing ever scanned. The article was highlighting how confidential paper work was found with trivial effort by someone dismantling a scanner. Similar thing here?
yancek Thanks. The problem is not new. The printer works properly. It always shows up as a disk storage however I plug it to a PC. But it only shows up as such on gnome-disk-utility. It does not show up on a file browser.
Jan K. & jmgibson1981 Thanks for your comments. If there really is some storage, I would like to be able to access it without dismantling the printer.
