non-destructive fs-switch with qtparted?

I want to switch filesystem on a removable hd which is currently using fat, to reiserfs. Can I do that with qtparted without my data getting destroyed? I havn't got enough space to back it all up.

No. You will have to format the file system as reiserfs and that will erase all of the data.

Damn... Okay, I'll have to borrow a harddrive from someone then. I've got 80 gig free on my standard ide hds, but there's 150 gig of stuff on the removable. The reason for me wanting to switch to reiserfs is mainly because the file permissions don't work the way I want them to on vfat.

Thx anyways.
