no sound whatever i try

Hi everybody,

I have tried almost everything, but cannot get any sound from the motherboard integrated sound system.

So far i have :

turn mixers on ( alsa and aumix )
tried several plugs for the jack
used "usermod " to add myself to the group "sound"
changed /dev/dsp and /dev/mixer to chmod 777

Even as root i cannot get any sound !!

When i tried to get some wav sound from Totem this one crashed!!

I have not selected artsd as this one was locking /dev/dsp

Any idea to solve the problem ??

Thanks

do you get any error messages?check the programs what or which you installed lately,(not from MDK 9.2 CDs)I believe that a program or software blocks the soundcard working!because I have had many sound problems!last one was one program caused it and I found out by uninstalling the programs what or which I had installed by one by and everytime I do that,I restarted the computer and finally sound was working!try to do that or find out what program you installed last or lately,I am sure this will solve the problem,by the way this not MDK's bugone bad program parameters or file cause that.I know you don't say that!

No sorry i did not install anything else than mdk.

I upgraded from 8.2 to 9.2 ,and erase the hard disk to avoid any problem.

But i nether get sound with 8.2 anyway ( the only difference this time, sound card is listed and alsa working )

I don't get any message at boot ( all is "ok" including alsa and sound )and really don't see what is wrong.

Thanks
