You need your bootloader to boot linux but you can reduce the timeout value in lilo.conf then reinstall lilo by running "lilo".

It is possible to remove the bootloader completely, but that is not what you want to do (trust me!).

Just edit /etc/lilo.conf, set the default to the correct boot option and the delay to 1. Comment out any lines which make lilo look pretty (bitmaps etc.) and run the /sbin/lilo command to commit the changes.

Now your system will boot straight to Linux without delay.

Nope - that will make it wait forever! Set time to 1 (ie 0.1 second), and if you disable the graphical cruft you won't even see the bootloader.

Setting 'timeout=0' or commenting it out will only make the computer wait forever if you leave in the 'prompt' line. If you comment out 'prompt' and 'delay=#', then it will boot immediately, no matter what value is set in 'timeout=#'.

Enjoy!
