news aggregator for lq

Age's ago, I seem to recall that someone posted about a news aggregator that they'd produced for lq.

Anyway, I found it at kde-look, it's called 6439-lq.tar.gz but I seem to recall seeing some instructions somewhere here about how to run/install it

could someone point me in the right direction please ??

regards

John

Yup, that looks like the one.

I've managed to get as far as running the lq.theme with superkaramba, but I'm only getting the title, would you know if I need to do anything else to get the titles of the thread showing as well.

and because I'm looking into this kind of stuff at the moment, I've manage to get the skrss (superkarambarss) reader running with the register as the news source, which gives me the headlines one after another, but I was hoping to get a list of the headlines and don't know how to modify that script (or would it be the parser - I really can't fathom that one) i.e. I don't understand which, if any of the parameters in the script would change how many headlines would be showing - are they all similar/the same ???

any guidance would be helpful.

regards

John

Well, I've still only managed to get the title line of the rss facility up on my desktop.

Having just looked at the readme, it says about

Quote:
LinuxQuestions must reside in $HOME/.superkaramba. The script linuxquestions will read and write to $HOME/.superkaramba/LQ/. Should you choose to move LinuxQuestions, please change the value of $LQ in linuxquestions and the value of PROGRAM="" in lq.theme.
So does that mean that I need to have the "lq.theme" in the /.superkaramba ??? because at the moment, the only thing in the /.superkaramba is a file called "lq.rc" which only has

Quote:
[internal] desktop=0 fastTransforms=true lockedPosition=true [theme] widgetHeight=200 widgetPosX=22 widgetPosY=16 widgetWidth=400
in it.

Could this be why I only have the title section showing ???

Any idea's please ?

regards

John
