Newbie breaks Fedora 3 Window Manager

Hi -

I am new Fedora Core 3 user...

One of the accounts on my machine has messed up windows. They seem stuck to the top of the Workspace, and they are all missing the top border that usually has a name. I cannot click on the window and move it.

When I try access the "Window" sselection under Prefs, a warning comes up:
"Cannot start the preferences application for your window manager. Window manager "unknown" has not registered a configuration tool."

I do not know how it was changed for this one user, all other users are using default "/usr/bin/metacity" and all other users are ok.

Can someone please tell me how to fix this?

Thanks!
DC

Sounds like the user is in twm or the default 'safe' window manager.

log the user out, and then go to the session menu. If it's on 'last' change it to GNOME or KDE, whichever you like. Let us know what happens after that.

Hi Patterson-

Thank you for the help. At login, I used Session to change from default to gnome. Then I went into Prefs->More Prefs->Sessions and added metacity - which was missing. The other users had it, just this one didn't. Anyways, all is well now and the windows have their top piece and they can be moved.

Thank you for your kind help.

(Piscikeeper - ALT-F3 did not do anything - is that a command for some other OS? Thanks for reply.)
