Networking Puppy Linux

I would like to network two Puppy 430 Linux computers both of which are connected to the same router.

I'm a little new to Linux but have been a Windows programmer for a long time.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

What exactly do you mean by 'network two computers'? If they are connected to the same router and got their IP by DHCP then they are already in the same network and connected. Do you mean to have access to files from one to the other and vice versa?

Kind regards,

Eric

network puppy 430

Eric

Let me explain what I mean. Please understand that I am new to linux and old (very old) with Windows.

In windows I would be setting up a peer tp peer network, that is a network where each computer can access files and printers on the other computer.
In windows these must be in the same workgroup.

This is what I sould like to set up now.

Thanks

Hello,

Linux is a lot different from Windoze in that aspect. You can access your files, login to the other machine, copy files, open shells without doing a lot of stuff. If you want to access the shell you could use rsh or ssh, you could use scp of ftp to copy over files, lot's of possibilities. I'm not familiar with Puppy so someone else might have to help out on installation part if extra installations are needed. Basically all you need is an IP, username and password and depending on your wishes the services activated (ssh daemon, ftp server, whatever).

Kind regards,

Eric
