Network Browser?

I am wondering if there is a program (Either downloadable or included) that allows you to browse computers and files on a network similiar to windows as Mac OS 10.4 has. My problem is that I travel to alot of differnt offices and many times someone says

"Hey can you take a look at xyz file"
"Sure, Where is it"
"On my computer"
"Whats the name of your computer"
"Oh, its a dell"
"..."
"Whats the name of the folder"
"Its in a shared folder"
"..."

Or is the only way to use network shares to "Mount" them?

Thanks all

two off the top of my head that i've used before are:
xsmbrowser
linneighborhood

I hate mac's, so in turn know next to nothing about them, so if your referring to something similiar to network neighborhood as in windows, then the two things mentioned are the similiar products.
