Network Backup Software with GUI
I have worked with Bacula. My backup server is on a linux box (ubuntu 10.04 server LTS) and while I have not used the bacula GUI, I have used Webmin, which has a gui interface to Bacula. It uses VSS (virtual shadow copy) on windows XP/Vista/7 to backup up system files that are in use, works also with Solaris and of course Linux clients. I have done individual file and complete system restores, which are all managed from the server. Bare metal restores do require a base install of the OS and client software before they can be done.
For storage, it handles tape drives, and drive arrays, and possibly optical disks, although I have not tried that. It allows client side compression, server side compression, or tape drive compression depending on your setup. With 3 months retention, daily incrementals, weekly differentials and monthly full backups, my backup volume is running around 4TB on 16 active clients.
