Nobody knows the answer to this.

I was trying to dual boot Windows 2000 and Mandrake 8.0. I partioned my drive using the Partition Magic wizard and I made an ext2 and a swap file for the Mandrake Install.
I booted off of the CD and got into the install program, chose expert answered a couple of easy questions...but then it got stuck!
It said 'test_for_bad_drives: can't even read (input/output error)
The hard drive I was trying to install on is Quantum Fireball 15 (i checked the H/W list and it was on there)

Please help me fix it. I don't know what to do.

I have an AMD K6-2/550 with 256MB RAM
15GB Quantum Fireball (primary master/win2k)
30GB Quantum Fireball (primary slave)
52x CD ROM drive
Yamaha 8 speed SCSI burner on an Adaptec 29160 card.

Thanks in advance.

I wish I knew

I wish I knew to. My setup is similar to yours. I've tried to install Mandrake 8.0, with an Adaptec 29160N SCSI Card, and an 18GB Quantum Fireball. Same errors as you!

P3/933
Adaptec 29160N SCSI
18GB Quantum Fireball

I can get Mandrake 9.2 to work. However, it takes quite a long time to load, as it is busy waiting for my card. Go figure.
