Need help fixing a courier-imap & xmailserver problem
I'm currently running xmailserver for smtp/pop3 and courier-imap on Mandriva 2010.0 64bit. Thunderbird 3.1.4 is the client. The setup has been working ok, but I've run into a problem with imap.
I've got some emails I just cannot read at all. Thunderbird acts like it's downloading the message, but it hangs. If I delete the courierimapuiddb file and force imap to reindex the messages it will fix the problem most of the time and I can then read the emails. But once in a great while, this won't work either.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm about to pull my hair out on this one.
Depending on your network, you might want to test fetch_by_chunks=false on a couple of machines. This is not good on slow networks (modem, isdn, etc), but actually faster on LAN.
I'm actually messing around with network optimizations right now, so this is one of the features I'm playing with.
user_pref("mail.server.serverX.fetch_by_chunks", false);
Where serverX could be server1, 2, 3 ...
By the way; which version of Courier-IMAP? If it's a problem with Courier-IMAP and you can't get it to work, then try playing with Dovecot (haven't used it, but it looks like a good server).
