named / bind error

Hi,
I am trying to set up DNS server (bind) on fedora core 2 (kernel 2.6)
I got the following error:

Code:
t@localhost nag2]# named -g
Jun 26 22:00:47.841 starting BIND 9.2.3 -g
Jun 26 22:00:47.842 using 1 CPU
Jun 26 22:00:47.845 loading configuration from '/etc/named.conf'
Jun 26 22:00:47.846 listening on IPv4 interface lo, 127.0.0.1#53
Jun 26 22:00:47.848 command channel listening on 127.0.0.1#953
Jun 26 22:00:47.849 ignoring config file logging statement due to -g option
Jun 26 22:00:47.849 couldn't open pid file '/var/run/named/named.pid': Permission denied
Jun 26 22:00:47.849 exiting (due to early fatal error)
I have chmod named.pid to 777 and running 'named' as root

Please help me out.

Regards,
Saurabh

If named is not running you can delete the pid file. It will be recreated once named has started. Also make sure that the root user have write permissions in the /var/run/named directory.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply but this problem is not related to file permissions .
I have already found an answer which is:
to modify the "options" field in /etc/named.conf to include:
Code:
pid-file "/var/run/named/named.pid";
Once again,thanks for replying.

Regards,
Saurabh
