MySQL setup openSuSE 10.2, no super user?

I setup MySQL previously before I updated to 10.2, so I just tried uninstalling and then reinstalling MySQL, but apparently something is messed up with user privileges. First of all, there isn't a root user, so I can't assign privileges to anyone else, which means I can no longer create any new databases. I've tried running mysql_install_db, but that doesn't do it. Can someone help me out so that I can either have a root account or give those privileges to a different account?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Or is it possible to somehow clear out the tables so that I can create new ones with mysql_install_db?

MySQL setup openSuSE 10.2

Hi.

How did you install MySQL? As root? Did you set up an additional user to start the mysql process or is mysql daemon started by root?
