mysql / php-nukequestion

my nuke install looks great. i can browse to www.mydomain.com/admin.php but i cannot sign in as the admin superuser (the only unusual feature is that my security field is blank). when i first sign on, the page indicates that no super user has been created and prompts me to do so. as per the install insructions, i attempted to login as "God" / "Password" but i am rejected without an error message. i am using redhat 9.0, PHP-Nuke-6.9, httpd-2.0.47 (apache), mysql-3.23.57, mysql-3.23.57, mod_ssl-2.8.16-1.3.29, openssl-0.9.7c, all compiled from sources. I have deleted the original nuke database and resinstalled it as per the following steps but still get no access. Any help would be appreciated.

CREATED NUKE DATABASE

mysql -h localhost -u dbuname -p (same as the config.php file)

mysql> create database nuke;

mysql> exit

check www.mydomain.com/conntest.php (confirms connection and my config.php file)
check www.mydomain.com/analyze.php (reports all good)

POPULATE EMPTY NUKE DATABASE WITH CORRECT TABLES

Populate empty nuke database with correct tables, log out from MySQL, go to the sql directory and do from the shell command line:

cd /apache_root_directory

mysql -u dbuname -p dbname < nuke.sql

CHECK OUR ADMIN USER AND CHANGE PASSWORD FROM "Password" TO "password"
1. mysql -h localhost -u db_user_name -p
2. mysql> use nuke
3. mysql> select aid, name, pwd from nuke_authors;
+-------+------+----------------------------------+
| aid | name | pwd |
+-------+------+----------------------------------+
| admin | God | b3a60558f171057e38933d2cd5680635 |
+-------+------+----------------------------------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

4. mysql> update nuke_authors set pwd='5f4dcc3b5aa765d61d8327deb882cf99' where aid='admin'; (note the password value and its translation suggested by forum threads)
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.00 sec)
Rows matched: 1 Changed: 1 Warnings: 0

5. mysql> select aid, name, pwd from nuke_authors;
+-------+------+----------------------------------+
| aid | name | pwd |
+-------+------+----------------------------------+
| admin | God | 5f4dcc3b5aa765d61d8327deb882cf99 |
+-------+------+----------------------------------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

6. mysql> exit

7. mysqladmin -u root -p reload

7. remove all cookies from mozilla using cookie manager.

8. www.mydomain.com/admin.php and insert new login. login God / password. login is not successful (note: my security code field is empty at login window)

9. delete nuke database and repeating the above gives identical results.

php-nuke security graphic

the security code was the key to solving this problem. If i change the config.php file from:
$gfx_chk = 7;

to:
$gfx_chk = 0;

then the blank security box disappears. of course, the security is also disabled. the security graphic is intended to stop robots from randomly hammering for a password.

i will try to trouble shoot that problem further but i can at least get on with the test installation and demostration that I have been working on unsuccessfully for the past weeks.

the solution was suggested by www.karakas-online.de. for other solutions to similar problems, try: http://www.nukeforums.com/forums/vie...rum=40&start=0

Yes, you need to compile php with gd support.
You can have GD extensions inside the php tree already, you just have to add the --with-gd parameter in the ./configure step.
