Mysql 4.1 and PHP configuration?

Hi All,
I have Rehhat installation with Mysql 3.2 and PHP 4 by default. Now I have to install Mysql 4.1 so after getting installed both server and client the configuration with PHP is lost. My requirement is just to move to Mysql 4.1 with PHP support. Please guide me as I am new in this area.

thanks

I did fresh installation

Hi,
I have installed Mysql 3.28 and then installed 4.1 (server and client) and able to use Mysql database. With Mysql 3.28 and PHP 4 default installation from the Redhat CD things are fine and I am able to use mysqladmin. Now after removal and installation of Mysql 4.1 when I am tring to use mysqladmin getting error "cannot load mysql extension; please check PHP configuration". Well I read documentation and other sources on the NET but still struggling.

Just I want a configuration guide explaining in configuration/installation of Mysql 4.1 or higher with PHP 4 or higher using Apache 1.3 or 2.

The reason I need to move to Mysql 4.1 or higher is due to the RAND() function which has issue in the old realease. So after getting information from different sources I came to this solution.
