mysql 4.0.20 on a redhat enterprise advanced server 3 box.

Hi Friends,

Can anyone provide me the step by step info to install mysql 4.0.20 on a redhat enterprise advanced server 3.0
Also pls provide the link for mysql 4.0. i mean the exact link
I tried with the default mysql which comes with the Redhat enterprise advanced server 3 box but no use its giving error.

Error 2002: can't connect to local mysql server through socket
'/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock'(2)

You get that error because the server isn't started. Start the server first. If that doesn't work, contact RedHat support.

Is the correct syntax to start the mysql server.

services mysql start

if i type this its saying that mysql file or directory is found.

but at the same time if i type

services squid start

then the squid services is starting.

so.....

what to do?
