What does the quoted message mean?
I tried
Code:
sudo apt-get autoremove
to see if it can do something, but nothing happened but the message!!
It means exactly what it says: you have two of the same entries in your source.list. Specifically, the main Ubuntu ones are doubled. You should go into your sources.list and remove the duplicates.
## Uncomment the following two lines to add software from Canonical's
## 'partner' repository.
## This software is not part of Ubuntu, but is offered by Canonical and the
## respective vendors as a service to Ubuntu users. deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu precise partner # deb-src http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu precise partner
You seriously need to fix your sources.list. The extra ppas you have are all wrong. They do not have packages for precise, only for oneiric. I would suggesting making a new one here. But if you can, fix it on your own.
@kedarp @Abrinister Thanks to both of you. Kedarp deserves a real thank for making me understand the problem, its source and its nature in depth. Whereas Abrinister simply posted a link which made my problem solved.
BTW, apart from editing /etc/apt/sources.list, I had to put my hands on /etc/apt/sources.list.d folder and manually removed some entries. Does not sources.list and
Code:
sudo apt-get update
enough? Because when the problem solved and I ran an apt-get update, it was showing some "duplicate entries" in "var/...[whatever]" folder. I manually removed the entries from /etc/apt/sources.list.d and it worked.
Does Precise have some problems with google? I had to comment out google repos to get a result.
