mutt on a LinuxMint17 Laptop

I installed mutt and I can do anything except send.

Step by step, I am working on setting up the software. Postrix, the mail.cf, etc.

But my question is has anyone ever got this to work? Just on a laptop without an out smtp or domain? Can it run just from the laptop independently? Or am I wasting my time trying?

I've gotten Mutt to work on several machines and have come to quite like it. I use fetchmail to get the mail, procmail and formail to process it, and msmtp to send it. I do not run my own mail server; I use Mutt to send and receive mail from my internet email providers.

The primary resource I used to get it working was this: http://docs.huihoo.com/gentoo/resour...e-to-mutt.html

Do you receive any error messages when you send mail?

What mail sending agent are you using it and what are the contents of the associated rc file, at least the part relevant to sending mail? (Take care not to post any information you wish to remain confidential, such as usernames and passwords.)

Okay maybe that's the part I am missing, using your ISP's email servers. I'm still trying to learn what needs to go into the "rc" file. That's where I am at now, and I did find that doc you posted. I just haven't gotten back to it yet.

Thanks!

In case you are interested, I did a podcast about my experience setting up mutt. There's a bunch of links in the show notes.
