Hi there,
I'm having difficulties using mplayer 1.0rc1.
When I load .srt subtitles, after some time they
become late and no matter how much I push the 'x'
key to increase the subtitle delay they keep to
be late through the whole movie, so I need to press
'x' all the time. I tried to find an answer to this
issue without any luck.
Please help me.
I have a similar problem with subtitles delay on Gentoo, mplayer 1.0_rc2_p28450 installed from portage.
for me it happens when I need to delay subtitles - initially the delay works OK, for example if I adjust it with "Z" or "X" keys, or run mplayer with -subdelay option.
but then, as the playback goes on it starts to shift the delay, more and more, and after some time the subtitles are out of sync again.
all in all, it makes this subtitles delay feature totally unusable.
in case of originally matching, synced subtitles everything is OK.
surprisingly enough, I was not able to find any existing information about this problem, except this thread.

Hey, it happens to me suddenly too. I don't know if I changed something in my ubuntu, but I noticed my subtitles get out of sync and I have to press Z all the time to fix it.
I know that I'm resurrecting an old thread but I wanted to post anyway. It has to do with the framerate of the subtitles and the source file. Subtitles are tied to times and not to frames but a movie with a higher framerate (29 fps) goes faster than one with a slower framerate. It is hardly noticeable but it is noticeable with subtitles. You can convert them with certain tools from one framerate to another but often it is easier to find a file on the internet that has the same framerate as your movie. Most movies on the internet have 23.976 fps nowadays but I believe aXXo used 25 fps back in the days. It all really depends on the encoder. Good luck future readers!
