mplayer status line

hello,
is there a way i can do opposite of -quite option in mplayer? what i mean is according to my knowledge -quiet option gets rid of status line but displays all other a/v related info but i want only status line in the output nothing else.

and also how can i use CTRL and ALT keys in input.conf file. i have tried CTRL-a,
CRTL a but its not working.

i m using:
slackware64 14.0 (multilib).

You can set the verbosity of individual modules using the msglevel flag. So for example, to display only the frame status as you want:
Code:
mplayer -msglevel all=0:statusline=5 file.mp4

The original mplayer does not seem to support modifier key bindings under Linux. There are forks such as mplayer2 that do (the syntax there is, for example 'ALT+a').
