Lightbulb Mplayer library depencies

I'm using Slackware 10.2 which works fine on my system. I installed Mplayer on my computer. The only reason it works is because I copied the library files from the Slax LiveCD PE onto my system. But now I think its too messy. So I try starting from scratch. Once I get mp3lame on my system, it won't work because it requires x11 (at least).

And even if I get all the libraries installed, there's what I face now:

When movies that I play (not DVDs) are more than the size of about 300 by 200 pixels (either in form of the data or a zoom, it plays in slow motion, although the audio is fine. I'm using X11 with the video player.

Any ideas (or a least a list of dependencies)?

Use binaries (and set its video output to xv):

Question Still doesn't work

I've had the binary installation all along. But I can't get the xv option to work. The xv option doesn't work. I tried installing the xvidcore from linuxpackages and that doesn't work either. BTW, I'm still using my old installation so, x11 works. But I installed only the first CD because I have an old laptop. I'm stuck using windows to play my movies--and that sucks.

Thanks for the the help, but I still need more.

If you have problems with installing all dependencies manually, try a tool like slapt-get:
http://www.linuxpackages.net/pkg_details.php?id=7419

Also see:

Angry Xv?

I have the most recent version of XV, but it still doesn't work. Does a special interface or library need to be installed or what?

Did you do a full install?
If not, I Obviously can't now what toy did or didn't install.

Here's a nice thread about setting up Slackware:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=174447

Instead of slapt-get he uses swaret. You also don't need to upgrade your kernel (and to Slackware-current) if you dont wish so. Neither do you need to install GNOME, that's all your choice. It might not give you a "perfect" Slack system, bit it's really a good start for people new with Slackware. Swaret makes installing new software just as easy as in Debian (also installing all dependencies for you).

Hello
red_hax0r, i suggest you download this first (1)http://www.slacky.it/download/multim...gapack.tar.bz2
install everything in this megapack BUT NOT mplayer and xine.
(2)now download mplayer from here http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/rel....0pre8.tar.bz2
(3)download win32 libs from here:
http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/rel...060501.tar.bz2
unzip the codec and copy all the files in to /usr/lib/win32 (if /usr/lib/win32 doesnot exist create it)

unzip mplayer and do "./configure --enable-gui, make, make install "

(4)download mplayer skin and font from here:
font: http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/rel...8859-1.tar.bz2
skin: http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/skins/Blue-1.5.tar.bz2

copy the skins and fonts into /usr/local/share/mplayer/font and /usr/local/share/mplayer/Skin

now mplayer should run without any trouble.
