mplayer - change font size of subtitles?

hey guys

I thought the size of subtitles of a video file (**.ogm) are too small and tried to change the font size without luck...

I changed in:

/usr/local/share/mplayer/font/font.desc

from:
Code:
name 'Subtitle font for iso-8859-1 encoding, "Arial Regular" face, size: 14.0 pixels, blur: 1.5, outline: 1.0'
to:

Code:
name 'Subtitle font for iso-8859-1 encoding, "Arial Regular" face, size: 14.0 pixels, blur: 5.5, outline: 1.0'
(NB: I changed 'blur: 1.5' to 'blur: 5.5')

The result was the same. the subtitles are too small.

I did the same thing in:

/home/myusrname/.mplayer/font/font.desc

but the result was the same.

Can anyone help? I tried also to set the values for '-subfont-blur' and
'-subfont-osd-scale' and '-subfont-text-scale' but it doesn't make any difference...

the distro is FC2.

You can change them in gmplayer, the GUI for mplayer. Xine, seems pretty robust for watching videos and is easier to configure IMHO. Give it a try!

WAG based on general troubleshooting: try changing the size, say to 18 pixels.
