mplayer and xvideo question!

Hi,
Before everyone goes and tells me to read all the other posts about xvideo, I have and they have helped tremendously, but here is my problem. When I run mplayer with the -vo X11 it works fine, but when I try to use -vo xv i get sound with a black video. I ran xvinfo and it appears to be working fine. I also checked the output of mplayer and it also seems that xvideo is installed and functioning properly, but I get no video. I have enabled the appropriate extensions in my xfree86 config file as well. Does anyone have any suggestions, or is there something I'm forgetting. I have used mplayer before but on another system with RH 8. I'm running redhat 9 with a radeon 9800 video card.

Here is the output from mplayer:

[root@localhost Desktop]# mplayer -vo xv dvl-dd.avi

Just a guess. Perhaps it doesn't work because you need to compile the radeon drivers? Mplayer is doing the right thing. Look at the backend.
