mplayer and faad or AAC or whatever

Hiya.
I was trying to open a matroska file with mplayer the other day and I only got video, but no sound. When I looked at the console, this caught my eye
Code:
Matroska file format detected.
==========================================================================
Trying to force audio codec driver family libmad...
Requested audio codec family [faad] (afm=faad) not available.
Enable it at compilation.
Cannot find codec for audio format 0x4134504D.
Read DOCS/HTML/en/codecs.html!
==========================================================================
Now, I'm confused. I had problems with mplayer a month back, so I went to their website and downloaded the "all" codec package and that seemed to fix it. I tried that again, thinking maybe the codecs were updated, but no dice. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

the "all" codecs are for all the proprietry win32 codecs, faad etc.. are not restricted by this, so will be available as a normal package. install that first, then rebuild MPlayer. you can see if mplayer is going to build itself with fad support from the configure script output.
