Mplayer


i downloaded a movie...and when i try and open it in Mplayer the terminal shows the movie is playing...and im getting sound...but the Mplayer window didnt pop up at all

What kind of movie file is it? Can you play other video formats without problem? Could be a codec or video output device problem...

Also when you say terminal if you mean the CLI then you will not get video only sound. X needs to be running.

Excuse me Kencaz? I'm sure you're referring to non-framebuffer/vesa CLI, because of course mplayer allows you to run both video and audio without X, by using the -vo fbdev and -vo vesa options respectively. It's cool watching a dvd without X.
