"mpeg modifier" equivalent

Hi, I'm looking for a Ubuntu „Feisty“ simple equivalent (GUI) to Windows „MPEG Modifier“, It changes aspect ratio for AVI's. Not Avidemux, it doesn't have facility to handle 2.39:1 aspect ratios. Any ideas please?

Trying to change 2.39:1 to 16:9 then burn and play in orig. format XviD on DVD player. 16:9 simply displays better on older TV. Computer-display is no problem
