grip is probably the best out there? What kind of problems are you having when attempting to install? Details please?

i am getting this

[root@localhost Music Apps]# rpm -ivh lame-20011211-1.src.rpm
warning: user yosi does not exist - using root
warning: group yosi does not exist - using root
1:lame ########################################### [100%]

so i figure it installed, i guess i just don't know how to get grip to use it. Or whatever i have to do.

grip's UI is slightly odd. After launching it, see the tabs "config"->"encode" to set which program it uses for encoding.

Yes, the Grip developers didn't attend the "user interface standards" class I believe.
But once you get the hang of it it's great. I disliked it very much at first but now I'm a big fan.

damn i must be slow

ok, the mp3's are still the size of wavs. But now when i go in and select lame from the enconder config it says "invald encoder execuable."

here is my settings:

Under rip:

Ripper: grip(paranoia)
File Format: ~/mp3/%A/%d/%n.wav

Under Encoder:

Encoder: lame
Encoder Excut. lame&
Encoder Command line: -h -b %b %w %m
Encoder filer format : ~/data/mp3/%A/%d/%n.mp3

i'm trying to figure out what the executable would be i guess. but i can't find er
