mozplugger only playing a blip of audio - no video

A search on here or google turned up nothing interesting, so I though I'd ask here. I'm having some problems with mozplugger. After finally getting a plugin that would work (somewhat), all mozplugger does is play a short sound byte ( < 0.5 sec long ), and no video. This makes my guess it's trying to work, but for some reason can't launch the video. Is there any way to get feedback from the plugin to see what could be happening, or has anyone else experienced this before?
This might help some: I'm trying to play an embedded wmv file, here is the corresponding section from mozpluggerrc:
Code:
application/x-mplayer2: wmv,asf,mov: Windows Media
video/x-ms-asf: asf,asx,wma,wax,wmv,wvx: Windows Media
video/x-ms-wmv: wmv: Windows Media
	stream noisy ignore_errors: mplayer -really-quiet -nojoystick -nofs -wid $window -vo xv,x11 -ao esd,alsa9,oss,arts,null -zoom -osdlevel 0 "$file" </dev/null
In order to launch things with just mplayer, I have to specify -vo x11, unsure why, but this is automatically in the rc file. Any ideas?

The first thing you need to do ...is to see that your mplayer does have support to play the specified wmv file...

Secondly, why use the deprecated mozplugin..?

Theres a great plugin for firefox/mozilla called mplayerplugin

http://mplayerplug-in.sourceforge.net/

Hope that gets you started

Cheers,

Gary

I think I may have another clue here - as an experiment to get an error message, I launched Mozilla from Konsole, and here are the results:
Code:
scuzzy@slackdell:~$ mozilla& >mozErrors 2>mozErrors
[1] 18383
*** Registering -webcal handler.
*** Registering text/calendar handler.
*** Registering webcal protocol handler.
LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libnpsimple.so [/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libnpsimple.so: undefined symbol: _ZTV16nsQueryInterface]
That libnpsimple.so is not the mozplugger plugin...
And the contents of mozErrors file is blank...

[EDIT]
Scratch that - my mozpluggerrc file was botched - fixed it and recompiled, now back to starting point, but this time with no errors.
[/EDIT]

SOLVED:
adding this to my xorg.conf "Screen" section fixed it:
Code:
Option "XaaNoOffscreenPixmaps"
So, now my screen section looks like this:
Code:
Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Screen 1"
    Device "** Intel i810 (generic) [i810]"
    Monitor "Dell"
    DefaultDepth 16
    Option "XaaNoOffscreenPixmaps"

    Subsection "Display"
        Depth 8
Goes on and on...
