Mozilla Firefox - Bookmarks Won't Show

So up until about last weekend, I had been running my computer perfectly and everything was working fine. My comp froze (which was weird) but anyway, when I restarted and opened up firefox I was no longer able to see my bookmarks. In order for them to show i have to "manage bookmarks" and then open up a new instance of firefox.

I have tried to upgrade, but then after I install and try to run firefox I get the following error message:

Service: 'usr/share/applications/MozillaFirefox.desktop is malformatted.'

Any help with this would be great, thanks all.

Try saving your bookmarks somewhere safe , then uninstall FF and do a clean reinstall and reimport you saved bookmarks and see if that works
