Wink more memory, more!!!!

Hey gang!

So, this PC has 1 Gb of Ram, SL runs...let's say...squarely and not smoothly. What to do? get more memory, now it still runs as squarely...how do I tweak that this program het the memory/resources it needs?

Got 4Gb memory and an ATI HD4350 video card, on a Delll optiplex 475...

Any tips?

I'm using either Firestorm or Singularity...

Thanks

Thor

It does help if you give more information of your set up.

Okay, well, there's one important detail: the drivers...I just installed the catalyst drivers and it works. My first thought was to set the priority...I went with that suggestion/question to the chatroom of the Singyuularity viewer, there they told me to install the catalyst driver, @ manajaro's, they told me how...
I should have marked this as solved...sorry I neglected that.

The solution (Manjaro/Arch) lies here

http://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php?ti...Graphics_Cards
http://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php?title=Catalyst

By the way, these are the specs:

Quote:
description: Computer
width: 32 bits
*-core
description: Motherboard
physical id: 0
*-memory
description: System memory
physical id: 0
size: 3029MiB
*-cpu
product: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.40GHz
vendor: Intel Corp.
physical id: 1
bus info: cpu@0
version: 15.6.5
serial: 0000-0F65-0000-0000-0000-0000
size: 3400MHz
width: 64 bits
Bizar is that the system has 4Gn of memory (cost me some) and is thus reported in the BIOS, though LSHW reports three-and-loose-change...

Maybe a bug in LSHW? Dunnow...

Are you running a standard 32 bit kernel? If so that would explain you only being able to use around 3.5GB rather than the full 4GB. If it is the case then try installing a PAE kernel if you want to see the full 4GB.
In my experience SL always looks jerky if you have a draw distance of anything respectable regardless of hardware (assuming you've not got the top-of-the-range graphics card), and in my case being on another continent to the servers seems to cause lag at times also.
I have an early AMD "Bulldozer" "8 core" with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GT 640 (kind of mid-range) with a decent cable internet connection and when I run with best-quality graphics and turn up my draw distance I'm looking at single-digit frame rates unless I'm in a skybox on an island.
