mod_rewrite in Apache 2 (in Debian Etch)

Hi all:
I've install apache 2 and php5 in Debian Etch.
It works.

When I install gallery2 in Debian, it tests the "mod_rewrite".
It fails.

So, I link the rewrite.load to the mods-enabled diretory and restart the apache 2.
It still fails.

My questions:
How can I know the "mod_rewrite" loaded?
How can I know the "mod_rewrite" works fine?
Pls. help.

Thanks.

Hi

One way is to make a little PHP file like this:
PHP Code:
<?php
phpinfo
();
?>
Then look at the page with your browser. There is a section called "Apache" and it shows "Loaded Modules".

Maybe you need to set an "AllowOverride FileInfo Options" in your Apache config. I think Gallery uses .htaccess files with the rewrite rules.

From the phpinfo, I found that mod_rewrite is loaded.
However, the gallery2 cannot test the module.
The detail is:

login to as admin in gallery2-->site admin-->modules-->configure "URL rewrite"

It outputs "warning" in mod_rewrite test.
It fails in the manual test
The .htaccess is OK.

Pls. help.

Thanks.
