MLB Radio Player

I haven't found any linux media player that matches windows media player (unfortunately) for playing archived MLB broadcasts. I currently use VLC but it has some issues.

What WMP can do that I can't in linux:

1. Select a variable speed up to 2x (smplayer/mplayer can do it but changes the pitch at the same time).

2. Move back and forth (advance/retreat) to any point in the broadcast. VLC in linux seems to be able to advance once (about 26 minutes for a normal 3+ hour broadcast) but crashes if I try to advance it again.

Are there any linux players that can do this? It's one of only a couple of things that I miss from windows.

I've waded through the 42 pages of the MLB site, but can't find the answer there. I am fairly good at internet searches.

My request isn't really about MLB, it's about finding a player which will allow you to advance or retreat during an archived internet broadcast. It should be a simple search but I can't find an answer. If I do I will post back here.
