I recently installed mandriva 10.2 on my laptop, i i'm trying to get the suspend function to work, but dnsresponder seems to be preventing it. It refuses to close, the same thing happens when i try to shut down the computer mdnsresponder refuses to close, but the computer just shuts down anyway.
I found out that mdnsresponder is part of an application called howl, that take care of ip networking, and i can therefore not uninstall it.

Does anyone have an idea as to how i can fix this problem?
All i really need to is make mdnsresponder shutdown with the rest of the programs, right?

You can disable mdnsresponder by running Mandrake Contol Center, going to Services and pressing the stop button next to mdnresponder in the list of available services. If you don't want it to run a boot time untick the "enable" option. You could also try as root,
That will stop mdnsresponder immediately and prevent it from starting at boot time.
